The Rick Hoerner Memorial Scholarship Fund
On April 14, 2024, age 63, Rick experienced his first symptom and was soon diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a fast-growing, incurable and cancerous brain tumor. Despite being told multiple times that he only had a few months to live, he continued to embrace each day by traveling and staying active. His unlimited planks became his staple daily activity. Rick spoke of how living with this disease showed him to live life without getting too hung up on little things. Rick’s authentic self was pure, kind, and graced with love that illuminated anyone who came into contact with him. Rick passed away at home May 21, 2025.
Rick was athletic his whole life. His love for an active lifestyle stayed with him his whole life. Knowing this, and understanding that when a person is faced with this illness, the support of a prescribed exercise program along with a range of holistic wellness services for mind and body can make a world of difference in a Cancer Survivors' healing journey, friends and loved ones created the Rick Hoerner Memorial Scholarship Fund in partnership with the Crocus Foundation. This fund will help to minimize the financial burden for survivors participating in a certified Clinical Exercise Program.
